Four Grading Sections

 

1.  Playing Test - 25% of Final Grade

 

2.  Paper Pencil Test - 25% of Final Grade

 

 

All Playing and Written Tests may be retaken one time after original assessment.  However, retesting must be done outside of regular school and rehearsal time.  The student must get permission from the director, and a guardian must send a note stating the student may stay after school. 

 

 

3.  Participation - 50% of Final Grade

​a.  Participates in all performances.

- Student not attending a performance will lose 100% of participation grade (50 pts. off final grade.)

 

b.  Participates in after school rehearsals (there will be Zero - no more than four after school practices during concert festival season in February and March)

        - Student will lose 10% of this grade (5 pts. off final grade).

 

If there are serious conflicts, contact the director ASAP.  

 

c.  Wears appropriate attire at all performances

- Student will lose 15% of this grade (7.5 pts. off final grade).

 

d.  Has music and loose leaf paper in a 1 inch 3 ring binder everyday

- Student will lose 6% of this grade (3pts. off final grade).

 

e.  Has pencil everyday

- Student will lose 2% of this grade (1 pt. off final grade).

 

f.  Has instrument everyday

- Student will lose 6% of this grade (3 pts. off final grade). 

 

g.  Keeps weekly practice log (Time practiced is not graded, just a guardian's signature  so the guardian can see how much the student is practicing.)

- Student will lose 4% of this grade (2 pts. off final grade).

 

 

 

4.  Extra Credit

a.  Getting permission to try out for All-District/Region Band

- 2 pts. added to final grade

 

b.  Making All-District or Region Band

- 4 pts. added to final grade

 

c.  Participating in an Honor Band

- 2 pts. added to final grade

 

d.  Getting permission to perform at the Solo/Ensemble Festival

- 2 pts. added to final grade

 

e.  Taking four private lessons

- 4 pts. added to final grade

 

f.  Staying after school to practice 30 minutes (Starting after October, student MUST have director's permission and note from parent or guardian.)  

- 0.25 pt. added to final grade
